Item Description
8-1/8x10" original glossy photo depicting a sky-high Cecil Travis, playing baseball during his stint with the United States Army from 1942-44. Prior to joining the Army for the World War II effort, Travis began his Major League baseball career in 1933 with the Washington Senators, the only ML club that he would ever play for. Widely regarded as one of the top hitting shortstops of his era, Travis would go on to hit for a .314 career average along with 657 RBI's and 665 runs scored. Cecil was a three time all-star and concluded his career where it first began, back in Washington in 1947. Image quality of this photo is fantastic, a few surface wrinkles/light creases are present but do not disturb the overall presentation of the photo. VF. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
