Item Description
3.5x5.5" vintage matte postcard depicts 14 ballplayers in full uniform along w/two individuals in formal attire. Production credit on back reads "The Roller Printing and Paper Co., Canton, OH." The 1906 Canton Chinamen finished in third place in the Class B - Central League w/a record of 85-63 under manager/first baseman Bade Myers. A total of four team members would go on to play in the majors - Dick Carroll, Fred Osborn, Harry Ostdiek and Willy Wilson. Front of postcard exhibits some margin foxing along w/lt. corner wear and pencil notation in the lower right corner. Undivided back has been postally used w/Aug. 25, 1907 cancellation stamp. Fine. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
