Item Description
3.25x5.5" vintage matte postcard produced by J.D. McCarthy, 8441 Northfield, Oak Park 37, MI. This postcard is one of a long-running series of bw portraits/action shots taken of MLB players throughout the 1950s and 1960s by noted photographer J.D. McCarthy. Minnie Minoso began his professional baseball career in 1946 w/the New York Cubans of the Negro Leagues before joining MLB w/Cleveland in 1949. Minoso would spend the next 15 years playing primarily for the Indians and White Sox, retiring w/a career batting average of .298 w/186 home runs and 1,023 RBIs. Minoso is a possible future candidate for HOF enshrinement based on both his Negro League and MLB accomplishments. Front of postcard includes a facsimile autograph while the back exhibits lt. foxing in a few spots. VF. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
