Item Description
3.5x5.5" vintage colorized linen postcard depicts the 1948 Boston Braves baseball club posed on stadium seating. "Boston Braves Baseball Team of 1948" caption at top. "Tichnor Quality Views" by Tichnor Bros., Inc. of Boston, MA production credit on back. All team members are identified below photo along w/their location in picture. Two Baseball HOF members were part of this club - Warren Spahn and Billy Southworth. Other notables include - Bob Elliott, John Sain and Tommy Holmes. The Braves would go on to win the NL pennant that season, w/a record of 91-62, losing the World Series to the Cleveland Indians in six games. Postcard was been sold at Boston Braves ball games during the 1948 season. Exc. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
