Item Description
2.75x4.5" vintage silver gelatin snapshot photo depicting two members of the Dominican League's Licey baseball club along w/the team's mascot posed inside a baseball stadium. Pictured from left to right are - Rudy "Rodolfo" Fernandez, Victor Aybar (Mascot) and Enrique Lantigua. Fernandez was one of the top pitchers in the Negro Leagues throughout the 1930s and early 1940s as well as playing winter ball in Cuba and the Dominican Republic. Lantigua was the primary catcher for Licey in 1936, making up the other half of the team's battery along w/Fernandez. Image quality of the photo is excellent. Back of photo displays handwritten identifications in period ink. Exc. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
