Item Description
8-1/8X10" vintage glossy photo depicting 15 female ballplayers dressed in full uniform along w/two male coaches posed at Habana Stadium in Cuba as noted by "Stadium de La Habana" notation at top. During the late 1940s, a professional team of Cuban women - Las Cubanas - played several exhibition games in Havana as well as other Latin American countries. We have not been able to find a list of team member names but this would make an interesting research project for the Cuban baseball enthusiast. Image quality of the photo is excellent, though numerous creases and surface wrinkles are present. Back of photo exhibits some margin foxing/staining as well as some bright pink staining along left edge. Good. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
