Item Description
3-1/8x4.75" vintage glossy snapshot photo depicts Baseball HOF first baseman Henry "Hank" Greenberg posed behind stadium seating. Image appears to have been taken sometime during the 1930s but we have been unable to identified the team uniform pictured. Greenberg was a long-time star ballplayer for the Detroit Tigers, finishing w/a career batting average of .313 w/331 home runs and 1,276 RBIs. Greenberg was also widely recognized as the greatest Jewish ballplayer of his generation, possibly ever. Greenberg was elected to the HOF in 1956. Image clarity of the photo is superb. Back of photo has handwritten ink note w/"276" photographer's stamp. Exc. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
