2.5x3-3/8" vintage glossy deckled-edge snapshot photo depicts teammates Bob Griffith and Bill "Cy" Perkins during their 1937 baseball season w/Ciudad Trujillo ball club from the Dominican Republic. This historic team was assembled by Dominican dictator Rafael Trujillo prior to the 1937 winter league season w/the sole purpose of winning the Caribbean Series that year. Thanks to a large bankroll of cash, Trujillo was able to recruit Negro League superstars Satchel Paige, Josh Gibson and Cool Papa Bell along w/a number of other superb ballplayers and they blitzed their way through the regular season before winning the championship under very intense pressure. The image of Griffith and Perkins presented here was basically the second best pitcher/catcher battery for that club, behind only all-time greats, Paige and Gibson. Front of photo exhibits some minor emulsion along the right edge. Back of photo contains handwritten notes, including the Griffith identification along w/a couple of spots of 1" paper loss. Fine.
