Item Description
3.5x5.5" vintage matte postcard depicting long-time minor league baseball player, Douglas Wooley "Dixie" Parker pictured in a full-length body pose in full baseball uniform. Beginning his professional baseball career in 1918 with the Class C - Petersburg Baseball Club, going on to spend a total of 18 seasons playing professional baseball throughout the minor leagues. In 1923, Parker received a Major League promotion to the National League's Philadelphia team, where he played a total of 4 games and came to bat 5 times. At the conclusion of his playing days, Parker would also go on to manage for 7 more seasons in the minor leagues. There are no significant condition issues to note. Divided back remains blank and unused. CYKO stamp box dates the postcard to 1904-1920s, which is consistent with the subject matter pictured. VF.
