Item Description
8x10" vintage matte photo depicting 20 team members in full uniform posed on a ball field with Broadcaster, George Higgins of WTCN, pictured in the lower left-hand corner. All team members are identified in the bottom right-hand corner based on their location in the photo. The 1936 St. Paul Saints competed in the Class AA American Association, finishing in second place with a record of 84-68 under manager and long-time MLB star Gabby Street. The 1936 Saints had an astounding total of 24 ballplayers go on to play Major League baseball with the most notable being: Lou Fette, Carl Fischer, Art Herring, Ira Hutchinson, Hod Lisenbee, Johnny Rigney, Mickey Rocco, Larry Rosenthal, Gordon Slade, Glenn Spencer, Phil Todt and Jack Warner.  Image clarity of the photo is superb, paper exhibits some rolling throughout. Handwritten identification of photo on back along with "Minnesota Historical Society" stamp in lower left hand-corner. Fine. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
