Item Description
8-1/8x10" vintage glossy photo depicting 23 team members in full uniform along with two gentlemen dressed in formal attire posed in front of stadium seating. All team members are identified on the enclosed paper caption based on their location in the photo. The 1942 Newark Bears competed in the Class AA International League, finishing in first place with a record of 92-61 under manager Billy Meyer. The 1942 Bears had an astounding total of 28 ballplayers go on to play Major League baseball with the most notable being: Johnny Babich, Tommy Byrne, Milo Candini, Allie Clark, Monk Dubiel, Al Gerheauser, Randy Gumpert, Billy Johnson, Hank Majeski, Bud Metheny, Tom Padden, Joe Page, Aaron Robinson, Tuck Stainback, Snuffy Stirnweiss and Jim Turner.
