Item Description
5.75x8" vintage paper premium depicting long-time Latin baseball great, Silvio Garcia, shortstop for the Cienfuegos ball club in the Cuban Winter League. The 1943-44 La Campana issue is one of the rarest Cuban baseball collectibles ever produced. Due to their fragile nature and paper thin stock, it is nearly impossible to find any specimens in better than VG condition, which is where we rate the condition of this beauty. Exhibits lt. creasing along with numerous surface wrinkles. Silvio Garcia began his professional baseball career playing in Cuba in 1931 and would spend a total of 19 seasons playing in his homeland, finishing with a lifetime batting average of .282. Garcia also spent a number of summers playing ball in Mexico, where he finished with a lifetime average of .335. Back of premium displays lt. staining throughout. VG. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
