Item Description
Pair of 5x7-1/8" vintage glossy photos depicting Latin and African American ballplayers dressed in full uniform along with several gentlemen dressed in formal attire on a ballfield in front of adoring fans in the stands. It appears that both photos were taken only moments apart however, one pictures famous Cuban baseball player Pablo Mesa, standing at far left wearing a uniform reading "Valentino". It appears that it in this photo, Mesa is holding some type of award that he has just received. Mesa  was the third member of the Negro League's Cuban Stars club, playing alongside all-time greats Martin Dihigo and Alejandro Oms throughout the 1920s. Awning visible on one building in background reads "Orange Crush" as advertising. One photo back contains pencil notation "Anunciodor Con Bocina", back of other photo is blank. Both photos are VF. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
