Item Description
7x9" vintage glossy photo depicting a total of six ballplayers dressed in full uniform along with one umpire in full suit posed on a ballfield in front of stadium seating. Photographer's stamp on back reads "Photo by ACME" along with another date stamp "Published July 1, 1936 - The Inquirer". Original paper caption descriptor also remains intact and identifies the baseball subjects pictured on the front from left to right: Ping Bodie (White Sox), George Stovall (Cleveland Indians), Ivan Olson (Broklyn Dodgers), Charley Deal (Boston Braves), Bob Meusel (New York Yankees), Jimmy Austin (St. Louis Browns) and Umpire, George Hildebrand (AL). This annual old-timers game raised funds for sick and needy professional ballplayers. Quality of the image is superb, 1.25" piece missing from the lower edge of the photo. Back of photo exhibits some scuffing throughout along with 1.5" blue paper residue and vintage tape present along the bottom edge. VG. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
