Item Description
7.75x10" vintage matte silver gelatin photo depicting several New York Yankees ballplayers on the baseball diamond inside Comiskey Park in Chicago, including Baseball Hall of Famer, Tony Lazzeri, on his way walking towards the dugout in front of admiring fans in the stands. Back of photo has handwritten notation which reads "Yanks at Comiskey Park - Tony Lazzeri - 8-4-32". The 1932 New York Yankees were a powerhouse ball club featuring Lou Gehrig in his prime along with an aging Babe Ruth, in addition to a number of other future Hall of Fame greats, winning the World Series in impressive fashion over the Chicago Cubs. Second baseman, Tony Lazzeri was one of New York's biggest and most popular stars, playing for the Yankees from 1926-37, before finishing his career with abbreviated seasons in 1938-39 with Chicago and the National League's New York club. Tony finished with a career batting average of .292 with 178 homers and 1,194 RBI's. Action shot presents nicely with a small .25" crease in the upper right-hand corner along with a few pressure marks visible on the back. VF. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
