Item Description
7.5x10" vintage matte photo mounted on linen paper to full dimensions of 8-1/8x10.75" depicting 13 female ballplayers in full uniform along with two young ladies and one gentleman, the team's coach, posed in front of stadium seating. Caption at bottom photo reads "The Auto Girls of St. Joseph" along with player identifications as they appear in the photograph. Handwritten note in lower left-hand corner reads "Michigan State Champions - 1939". Female ball club appears to be a semi-pro group, likely assembled to take on all comers in their local northern region. Strikingly bold image presents beautifully, approximate 3" tear along left margin along with .75" corner clipped off of photo in the upper right. Linen paper mount remains clean on both sides. VG. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
