Item Description
6.25x9.75" vintage color tinted photo depicting former baseball great, George Herman "Babe" Ruth along with five other gentlemen in front of a boat with body of water in the background. Babe Ruth was one of the early superstars of Major League Baseball, joining the Boston Red Sox in 1914 as a star left handed pitcher. Despite being one of the American League's best southpaws for the next six seasons, Ruth exhibited so much prowess during his at-bats that when the New York Yankees acquired him from Boston in 1920, Ruth was converted to a full-time outfielder and the rest, as they say, was history. Babe would go on to lead the New York Yankees to World Series championships throughout the 1920s, finishing his career with a Major League record of 714 home runs, which has eventually eclipsed by Hank Aaron in 1974. Ruth was part of the inaugural Baseball Hall of Fame class in Cooperstown, joining four other original members, Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner, Walter Johnson and Christy Mathewson. Photo exhibits lt. creasing to all corners along with scattered scuff marks visible on back. Fine. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
