Item Description
1.25". Reverse has stamped union bug and curl reads "Philadelphia Chewing Gum Corp. Havertown, Pa." This and following two lots are the only three examples we have seen or offered in our 54 years. A very rare gum issued series. Ralph Branca was a key member of the Brooklyn Dodgers throughout the 1940s and early 1950s, winning in double digits on four different occasions. Ralph was best remembered for being the pitcher who gave up Bobby Thompson's "shot heard 'round the world" to lose the third and decisive game of the National League playoffs in 1951 against the New York Giants. Glossy, Exc. Paul Muchinsky Collection Book Example.
