Item Description
10.5x13" display plaque contains glossy 8x10" photo showing Satchel Paige (1906-1982), widely regarded as the greatest pitcher in the history of the Negro Leagues, starring for the great Pittsburgh Crawfords and Kansas City Monarchs clubs of the 1930s and 1940s. Joining the Cleveland Indians in 1948 as the oldest rookie in MLB history, Paige would play a major role in leading the Indians to the 1948 World Series. After spending one more season in Cleveland, Paige would play his final three MLB seasons w/the St. Louis Browns from 1951-1953. Paige was elected to the National Baseball HOF in 1971. Photo shows Paige in Browns uniform and has been boldly signed in blue felt tip pen at right. Exc. Photo has been encased within wall plaque w/custom text plate below and is ready for display.
