Item Description
Silver gelatin 8x10" vintage photo depicts Babe Ruth (1895-1948) in his New York Yankees uniform. Ruth began his MLB career as a star left-handed pitcher for the Boston Red Sox in 1914, playing there through 1919. In 1920, "The Babe" joined the New York Yankees, where he would go on to slug 714 career home runs, by far the all-time record when he retired in 1936 after his one season w/the Boston Braves. He was a two-time All-Star, a seven-time World Series champ and 1923 AL MVP. Ruth was elected to the National Baseball HOF w/the inaugural class in 1936. Photo has been signed in black ink, Ruth adding "Sincerely" inscription. Back of photo bears "Cosmo-Sileo Co." photographer's stamp. Photo has all over handling wear, resulting in several creases, most of which are only noticeable in reflected light. Small dot of surface paper off just under bill of Ruth's baseball cap. Pin holes at top/bottom center and top right corner. 1" tear at top center w/tape repair on back. Back also has aged tape at top/bottom and left/right center margins and some tape staining. VG overall but signature remains bold and  would make for nice framed display. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA. Chuck Bruce HOF Collection.
