Item Description
Glossy 8x10" vintage photo shows Grover Alexander (1887-1950), nicknamed "Old Pete," a MLB pitcher who played for the Philadelphia Phillies (1911-1917), Chicago Cubs (1918-1926) and St. Louis Cardinals (1926-1929). He was a three-time Triple Crown winner and 1926 World Series champ. Alexander was elected into the National Baseball HOF in 1938. Photo shows Alexander in Cardinals uniform and dates to that period. Photo has been signed in blue ink by Alexander, who signs "To My Pal Harry E. Swisher - Best Of Luck - Grover C. Alexander - 1941." Alexander's name and date are a bit lt. but still legible. Top right corner has tiny tip off and corners show some wear. Fine/VF. Signed photos this nice are rarely seen. Comes w/11x14" double-mat w/professionally inscribed name plate. Ready for framing.
