Item Description
Glossy 8.25x10" photo shows Ty Cobb (1886-1961), widely regarded as one of the top MLB players of all time. Nicknamed The Georgia Peach, Cobb would play his first 22 seasons for the Detroit Tigers (1905-1926) and his final two w/the Philadelphia Athletics (1927-1928). A Triple Crown winner in 1909, he was named the 1911 AL MVP. Cobb was elected to the inaugural class of the National Baseball HOF in 1936. Photo has been inscribed/signed in blue ink to fellow HOF member Charles Gehringer, reading "To Chas. Gehringer - From Ty Cobb - 8/26/46." Gehringer played w/Detroit 1924-1942; Gehringer's first full season in MLB was 1926, which was also Ty Cobb's last season as the Tigers' player-manager.
