Item Description
7x10" single-sided magazine premium published by Baseball Magazine Company shows Walter Johnson (1887-1946), a MLB pitcher who played his entire 21-year baseball career for the Washington Senators (1907-1927), going on to manage the team 1929-1932. He was a two-time AL MVP and 1924 World Series champ. Johnson was elected to the inaugural class of the National Baseball HOF in 1936. Johnson is shown in Senators uniform and has boldly signed at lower right in black ink, inscribing "Best Wishes To 'Sandy' - Walter Johnson Feb. 1937." Bottom margin bears his name at center w/lower left having small "Published By Baseball Magazine Company, New York" and "Enlarged From Original Photograph By Wide World Photos" at lower right. Notably trimmed margins, though most of this was blank white margins. Upper left corner has 3/8x.5" corner tip off and lower left corner shows obvious foxing w/tears and some missing surface paper. All four corners have archival tape repairs/reinforcements added on back, including reattaching 1" corner piece at upper right. Back corners show residue from mounting. VG overall and comes w/quality double mat and matching 15-1/8x17-1/8" frame w/UV Plexiglas, making for nice display. An exceptional vintage baseball item to have signed by one of the greats. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA. Chuck Bruce HOF Collection.
