Item Description
Vintage nice quality matte finish 8x10" photo shows Lou Gehrig (1903-1941), nicknamed "The Iron Horse." Playing his entire 17-year MLB career w/the New York Yankees (1923-1939), he was a seven-time All-Star, 1934 Triple Crown winner, two-time AL MVP and six-time World Series champ. Gehrig was elected in the National Baseball HOF in 1939. Photo has been signed in black ink and bottom has "New York Yankee - 1st Base. 1934.," but this caption is not in Gehrig's hand. Photo is evenly aged and has eight sets of staple holes in image area; three across top, three across bottom and one each at left/right center. These have had professional touch-ups and now blend and are only noticeable upon close inspection or reflected light. Image displays sharp. Uninscribed signature is a bit lt. but still totally distinct and legible. Displays VF. A superb signed piece for one of the game's greatest legends. Photo is not matted but comes w/double-mat that has custom text plate at bottom. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA. Chuck Bruce HOF Collection.
