Item Description
3.5"x5.5" vintage silver gelatin postcard depicting 11 ballplayers in full uniform along with two gentlemen dressed in formal attire along with a youngster lying down in front with period baseball equipment visible in the foreground. Photographer's credit in the upper right-hand corner reads "Jurgens". We have not been able to identify this club as being a professional team so was most likely a town ball club, taking on all comers in their local Illinois area. Image clarity of the photo is excellent, corners exhibit moderate wear. Divided back has been postally used with a cancellation date of Dec. 1, 1908. Lt. foxing/staining around the edges on back. Fine. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
