Item Description
6.5" tall by 12" long by 3.5" wide tin litho friction double-decker bus toy w/translucent plastic windows at top front/back and rubber tires. Made in Japan by Asakusa, 1970s. Sides of bus feature large "Atom Bus" name w/image of Osamu Tezuka's iconic manga character Mighty Atom, better known in the US as Astro Boy. Large image of flying Mighty Atom on roof. Depicted bus passengers include Mighty Atom supporting characters like his sister Uran, Professor Ochanomizu, Dr. Umataro Tenma, Higeoyaji, Inspector Tawashi and Chief Nakamura among others. Toy shows obvious wear w/all over paint nicks/scratches/aging and streaks of bare metal showing. Right side has notable inward warp, w/separation along top roof seam. Iside back stairwell entrance has some scattered white paint. Friction works. Just VG overall, but a rare piece.
