Item Description
27.5x41" title/stock poster for 1939 12 chapter Sci-Fi movie serial, produced by Universal Pictures and featuring Buster Crabbe in the title role, co-starring Constance Moore, Jackie Moran and Anthony Warde. This beautiful, full color poster (posters for the individual chapters were issued in two-tone color, see following 11 items) served as the introduction to this historic movie serial, in which Buster Crabbe first stepped into one of the roles he'd be most associated with (the other two being Flash Gordon and Tarzan). Poster features large image of Crabbe alongside Constance Moore as Wilma Deering and Jackie Moran as Buddy Wade (a character created for the serial). Bottom of poster features additional images of the cast, including Crabbe in spacesuit at bottom center. Title displayed diagonally across center of poster, within spaceship outline. Poster was originally folded and has now been linen-mounted. Poster has had professional restoration along fold lines and at fold crease intersections. Restoration also includes touch-ups/fills to pin holes at corners and along margins. Poster retains a bright and clean appearance and displays Exc. An extremely rare movie serial poster, this is the first example we've seen in our 55 years, and the first time this poster has come to auction. Gene Seger Buck Rogers Collection.
