Item Description
11.5x12.5" trimmed artboard w/pen and ink original art by Sad Sack creator George Baker (1915-1975) for Sad Sack #118, published by Harvey in June 1961. Handwritten text at top margin notes this as originally being the cover for Sad Sack #117 (May 1961), but cover art was utilized for the following month instead. Cover shows Sad Sack staring out window at two female soldiers, his mop unknowingly dangling into soup pot, much to the cook's anger. K-9 unit's Muttsy is seen at lower right above Baker' signature. Margins have some handwritten editorial notations in pencil, including title abbreviation and aforementioned original issue number and publication month. Artboard shows some scattered handling wear/aging. VF overall w/art remaining clean and Exc.
