Item Description
Large and impressive 35x51.75" custom frame contains hand-crafted cover recreation of Incredible Hulk Special #1 (1968), featuring classic Hulk image. Art is by Matthew DiMasi, known for his "Shattered" cover recreations using shattered ceramic tiles to recreate famous comic book covers, w/Marvel using his mosaic art as actual variant covers for some of their comics. Mosaic recreates Jim Steranko and Marie Severin's original cover, featuring the Incredible Hulk straining to hold up "Hulk" title. DiMasi's initials appear in tile pieces at top right (Steranko's initials appear at upper left). Framed piece has depth of 2" and features glossy ceramic tile pieces that have been mounted in sanded grout on wooden tile board. Glossy frame has been painted w/base coat/clear coat car paint. DiMasi's original art was published by Marvel as a variant cover for Immortal Hulk #16 in June 2019. Top left has been boldly signed in silver paint pen by Steranko himself. Bottom left corner of frame shows some lt. wear but piece is o/w NM. Given the size and materials used to create this piece, it is rather heavy. Comes w/two reading copies of the comic book this art was produced for, one signed on front by DiMasi in white paint pen, the other signed on back in black felt tip pen along w/Hulk sketch.
