Item Description
11x17" offset print produced before the show for promotion. Pencil signed by artist Mike King in lower right margin. One of seven different color varieties of this design another of which is illustrated in the King, Herring & Gore authored book Maximum Plunder on p.158. This example on thin yellow stock has black ink and shading to the central image of Satan. Promoting a pair of shows w/opening band Possessed on Aug 27 in Portland at Starry Night and Aug 28 in Seattle at Mountaineers. Tear in field below the "er" in "Slayer" and a horizontal tear along right edge, neither affecting graphics. Scattered staple/pin holes and moderate handling. Reverse has tape remnants and pulls at corners and at top/bottom center. VG. Rare. Slayer had released their second full length album Hell Awaits earlier in the year which had become a hit within the thrash metal community. Influenced by Mercyful Fate, the longer songs and more progressive structure proved a roadmap further explored on the seminal follow up Reign in Blood, the following year. An important poster capturing the band during their artistic prime w/harrowing graphics indicative of the group's iconography.
