Item Description
3-3/8x5-3/8" vintage matte postcard depicting 12 ball players in full uniform along with two gentlemen dressed in formal attire and posed in front of stadium seating. Imprint at bottom of photo reads "Cornelia Base Ball Club 1916". Photographer's credit in lower right-hand corner is illegible.  Although there are multiple states with cities named Cornelia, we surmise that this team most likely hails from Cornelia, IA. We were unable to obtain any additional information about this club, likely a town squad taking on all comers in their local area. Postcard exhibits creasing in the upper right-hand corner along with moderate corner wear. Some paper emulsion visible along the left and bottom edges. Divided postcard back remains blank and unused. AZO stamp box dates to 1904-18, which is consistent with the subject matter presented. VG. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
