Item Description
3-3/8x5.5" vintage glossy postcard depicting 16 team members along with a junior mascot in full uniform posed in front of a stadium fence. Imprint at bottom of photo reads "Shreveport Baseball Team 1937". Photographer's credit in lower right-hand corner indicates "Photo by Burton". Team appears to be a professional outfit although we have been unable to identify any from this city active during the 1937 baseball season. A Sherbrooke club did exist in the Provincial Canadian League a couple of seasons later from 1939-40. Lt. toning around edges on blank, unused back. The Velox stamp box dates the postcard to 1923-39, which is consistent with the subject matter presented here. Exc. From the Richard Merkin Collections and comes with Hake's COA.
