Item Description
3-3/8x5-3/8" vintage silver gelatin postcard depicting an unknown ballplayer from the Almendares club of the Cuban Winter League posed on a ballfield. Based on the uniform style, the image appears to originate from the 1920's, which is consistent with the stamp box dating of 1910-30. Throughout the 1920's. the Almendares team maintained its place in Cuban baseball as one of the "Big 4" along with Habana, Santa Clara and Marianao. Postcard exhibits lt, even corner wear with some lt. staining along the top edge. Divided postcard back contains evidence of previous glue, likely from scrapbook removal. AZO stamp box dates the item to 1910-1930. VG. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
