Item Description
3-3/8x5-3/8" vintage silver gelatin postcard depicting 13 team members in full uniform, including one player wearing an entirely different uniform and posed in front of stadium seating with period baseball equipment in the foreground. The 1911 Troy Trojans finished in third place in the Class B New York State League with a final record of 74-66 under manager, Heinie Smith. The ball club was led by pitching star Carl Lundgren, who went on to enjoy a very successful Major League career with the Chicago Cubs from 1902-09. Corners exhibits moderate, even corner wear with .75" surface wrinkle near right edge of top border. Divided postcard back  exhibits some foxing around the edges and has been postally cancelled with a date stamp of August 28, 1911. Fine. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
