Item Description
3-3/8x5-3/8" vintage silver gelatin postcard depicting 12 team members in full uniform along with two gentlemen dressed in formal attire posed in front of stadium seating with period baseball equipment in the foreground, including a team banner reading "Weed". Identification below photograph reads "Weed, Calif. Base Ball Team, Season 1912, Champions of Northern California/Southern Oregon". All team members are identified below their respective images along with their position on the diamond. Publication credit on back reads "Patton Post Card Co., Salem, Ore.". We have been unable to identify any further information for this team, likely a town ball club taking on all comers in their local California area. Image quality is superb, small crease in lower right-hand corner. Divided postcard back has been postally cancelled with a date of June 29, 1912. VF. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
