Item Description
2.25" w/W&H back paper. Features high contrast image of the 1912 Democratic hopeful from Alabama. He was the House Majority Leader during his 1912 bid for the presidency, and he ran third in the balloting at the Democratic National Convention for most of the 46 ballots. He ran again in 1924, but his staunch opposition to the Ku Klux Klan likely hurt his chances, as the KKK had millions of members and tens of millions sympathetic to the Klan in 1924. Only light surface wear, most notably a tiny 1/16" scratch at 6 o'clock that detracts little. A well-centered example. Exc. An impressive hopeful button from the contentious 1912 campaign. Wayne Otchis Collection.
