Item Description
1.25" w/K.C. Adv. Novelty Co. back paper. Features a dead donkey and elephant w/the corresponding "Dem" and "GOP" toe tags on each, likely sending the message that Progressivism in the major two parties is dead and the only solution is to back the Progressive Party. Thou Shalt Not Steal was the title of a piece of campaign literature and derives from TR's stance on equal rights for all. His quote reads- "The eighth commandment reads, 'Thou shalt not steal.' It does not read, 'Thou shalt not steal from the rich man.' It does not read, 'Thou shalt not steal from the poor man.' It reads simply and plainly, 'Thou shalt not steal.'" Faint scattered edge spotting, most notable at 2 o'clock. Otherwise light surface wear. Extremely Fine. Incredible graphics from this 1912 campaign item. See related item as lot #234. Wayne Otchis Collection.
