Item Description
7x23-1/8" artboard w/India ink original art for Oct. 25, 1958 daily strip by Dick Tracy creator Chester Gould (1900-1985). Art features four panels, showing Dick Tracy in scuba gear, searching for the bodies of Dropper, Chicory and Gorilla around an aircraft downed by the hurricane, Tracy wondering what happened to Miss Egghead, whose body is being rowed on makeshift door raft by Wunbrow in last panel. Tracy appears in second panel w/Sam Ketcham (who stays dry in a police boat), w/small shadows of them visible in third panel. Gould has signed last panel. Third panel has Chicago Tribune copyright strip. Large inked date at upper left. Engraver inkstamp on back. Some surface paper lift at lower left, not affecting art in any way. Staple holes appear along margins which exhibit moderate scattered staining, but art remains clean and could be matted for Exc. display.
