Item Description
11x17" offset print on lightly coated thin white stock. Pencil signed on the front by artist Mike King and on the verso by artist Steven Birch. The two artists worked together at this point. Illustrated in King, Herring & Gore authored book Maximum Plunder on p. 35. PNW flyer promoting a concert in Portland, OR at Pine Street Theatre on Sat. April 11, 1987 featuring The Butthole Surfers, Hell Cows & Smegma. Corner bends at top l/r and minor edge wear. Exc. This show occurred a month before Locust Abortion Technician (LAT) was realaesed. The Butthole Surfers' indulgent anarchic live shows often included disturbing layered film projections, violence, cymbals set ablaze, Kathleen Lynch the naked dancer and more antics making for a nihilistic experience skirting the line of acceptable taste. The 1,000 capacity crowd at Pine Street Theater (later renamed La Luna & RKCNDY) was surely tantalizingly dismayed at the evening's happening. This period of the band's work is considered their artistic prime w/LAT often name checked as the band's finest effort.
