Item Description
13x19.75" artboard has pen and ink original art for large splash panel highlighting Milestone Comics superhero Icon - referred to as "Paragon" on the published piece, a the character's name had not yet been finalized - w/portrait of his human alter ego Augustus Freeman IV at right. This splash was one of three created by Milestone Media co-founder Denys Cowan (the other two featuring closer portraits of Hardware and Static) for the cover to Comics Buyer's Guide #990 (Nov. 6, 1992), which had a feature introducing the creators and creations of Milestone. The artist used white correctional fluid to Paragon/Icon's chest and epaulets areas, and tiny mark between full body image and secret identity portrait but o/w art remains clean and Exc. Artboard has piece of white tape at upper left margin as well as at bottom center margin. Thin 1.25" long piece of white tape at lower left w/small spot of staining below this, but could be matted and framed for attractive display. Art comes w/smaller 9.5x14.25" board featuring original color art of the same Paragon/Icon image, w/line art transferred to applied stat, which was then hand-painted utilizing mixed media.
