Item Description
Jules Verne (1828-1905) was a French novelist, poet, and playwright, best known for his series of best-selling adventure novels including - Journey To The Center Of The Earth (1864), Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Seas (1870) and Around The World In Eighty Days (1872). Offered here is 2-1/8x3-5/8" calling card w/printed "Jules Verne" name on it. That side has an extensive handwritten note from Verne in French that reads - "With Love, Though Very Belated, I Have The Pleasure Of Sending You This Card With The Few Lines You Asked For. Please Forgive Me For The Delay In Sending This Testimonial Of Esteem And Sympathy." Verne has signed in black ink, adding "April 98" date. Card is evenly aged (w/a slightly lighter strip of aging across bottom margin) but Exc. overall. Comes w/JSA LOA. Newton Powers Tomkinson Collection (see Featured Collection bio online).
