Item Description
10-3/8x16-3/8" offset litho. Typically 11x17" this example has had its white margins trimmed away. Verso has surface paper lifts and areas of thinness from once being mounted and removed. Horizontal fold at center and light handling wear. Technically Good but displaying above grade. Advertising a "Fri. Feb. 9" concert at Pine Street Theater in Portland, OR featuring Screaming Trees, Nirvana, Tad and Rawheadrex. Terrific design featuring The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms and 1950s-esque woman in shock at right. Signed in print by artist Steven Birch at left of graphic "Mr. Steve 1990." Despite the solid critical response to their debut album Bleach, released July 15, 1989, Nirvana continued to play second to the more established bands of area, here opening for Screaming Trees who had recently signed a major label contract w/Epic Records. Twelve songs from this concert were released as part of the 20th Anniversary edition of Bleach.

All Nirvana posters from this stage of the band's career are scarce and this design is among the most attractive. That fact combined with the terrific slogan "It Came From Up North" show this poster is among a handful in the running to answer the question "If you had only one Nirvana poster which one would it be?"
