Item Description
11.5x17" artboard has pen and ink original art by Murphy Anderson (1926-2015), best known as one the premier inkers of the Silver Age of comic books and one of the artists most closely associated w/Hawkman during the 1960s.
Offered here is the original art for page 2 of second story in Hawkman #20, published by DC Comics in June 1967. Five panel page is from "Lion-Mane, The Tabu Menace" story by Gardner Fox. This issue and story saw the introduction of Hawkman villain Lion-Mane and shows Hawkman saving a hunter from a lion attack. Hawkman appears in every panel. Anderson has signed third panel in black ink. Top margin has inked title and issue/page numbers, but these have been partially covered w/white correctional fluid. Back has Comics Code Authority inkstamp and a few small pieces of aged masking tape at margins/corners. Margins have some aging/dust soiling, but art remains clean and Exc.
