Item Description
18x21" double mat display contains mixed media original art for cover to the Dec. 1948 issue of The Rexall Magazine, a promotional magazine published and distributed by Rexall drugstores. Great Christmas scene shows Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck unwrapping a Christmas gift, which is revealed to be Danny the Black Lamb from Disney's 1948 live action/animated film So Dear To My Heart. Art is by Disney artist Hank Porter (1900-1951), who worked on a wide variety of Disney projects, including animated features like Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs, comic strips as well as additional promotional material in magazines like Good Housekeeping and work for the US military during World War II. Porter has signed "Walt Disney" name at lower right. Despite Porter's prolific Disney career, this is one of just a few covers of any kind he illustrated. Art has penciled outline for magazine title imprint at upper right and margins have some scattered spots of glue/tape staining. Fine/VF overall, but image area is unaffected by staining and art remains clean. Would make for a nice framed display. This art presents a rare opportunity to obtain a charming piece of Hank Porter Disney cover art. Comes w/worn copy of the magazine issue this art was produced for.
