Item Description
Issued over a two year period from 1929-30, the R315 series consists of 46 cards measuring 3.25x5.25" w/fronts printed in bw and featuring either a portrait shot or in-action pose. Back of cards are blank.
James Robert Shawkey (1890-1980) was an American baseball pitcher who played fifteen seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB). He played for the Philadelphia Athletics and New York Yankees from 1915 to 1927. He batted and threw right-handed and served primarily as a starting pitcher. Some of his career highlights include being the AL ERA leader and three time World Series Champion. The autograph is distinct and well placed beneath the players face. This signed copy is the only example ever graded by PSA and a true 1/1.
