Produced by the Philadelphia Caramel Company, the 30-card E96 card set was a highly anticipated follow-up to the company's successful E95 release.Like the prior year's series, each item in the E96 set features a full color art rendering of a player photograph framed by a white border with his last name, home city, and league printed along the bottom border. A checklist is printed in red on the reverse, with that color helping collectors easily separate the set. The checklist also features the printed addendum: "Previous series 25, making total issue 55 cards."

Rube Marquard began his MLB career w/a single pitching appearance for the New York Giants during the final week of the 1908 baseball season. Rube would remain w/the Giants until 1915 when he moved on to Brooklyn in mid-season followed by a stop in Cincinnati before closing out his career with the Boston Braves in 1925. Marquard finished his career w/a record of 201-177 along with a very respectable career ERA of 3.08. Rube was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1971. What takes this card to an entirely different level, however, is the fact that it has been boldly signed by Rube.  The signature on the card is well placed and distinct.
