Item Description
One part of this two-piece lot is a N. Mint copy of "Walt Disney Comics - Premier Gemstone Issue" No. 634 from July, 2003. This first issue under the Gemstone imprint has been signed on the front cover in black felt tip pen by Patrick Block who also added a portrait sketch of one of Donald's nephews on the upper edge of the front cover spotlight circle. Block began work as a Disney artist in 1994 and does Donald and Uncle Scrooge comic book covers and stories. For this particular issue, he and his wife contributed the story "Grandma Duck Egg-Citing Eggs." With the comic comes a large, gorgeous 11.5x15" piece of specialty art by Patrick Block done on high quality textured illustration board. The superb pen and ink watercolor art depicts Donald as a newsboy only rather than a newspaper, he holds aloft a copy of the Gemstone comic that is included as part of this lot. Hand-captioned by Block, and also including his wife's autograph (as she writes Donald Duck stories) "Best Wishes From Your Pal Donald Duck And Patrick Block/Shelly Block/July 2004." A superb portrait of Donald, documenting another milestone in his career. From the Hake Collection acquired at 2004 San Diego Comicon. Art is unique and Mint.
