Item Description
13.25x22.75” archival mat with 3 lead/color pencil original illustrations. Center opening measures 9x9.25” with 8x8-5/8” image area with hand-lettered title “Supermans Adventures In Safety” logo. Lower left panel has faint image of Superman’s head. Art is c. 1945 for a proposed series of premium comic books which never saw print. Nicely signed “Joe Shuster” at bottom right. Left opening measures 3.5x6.5” and features a sultry, bosomy blonde in a revealing gown. Right opening measures 3.75x7” with sexy redhead in low-cut dress with “Just Like Mae West” text at top. Both pin-ups are c. 1960 and unsigned but by Shuster. Right pin-up has residue from cellophane tape in title area, o/w all 3 pictures are Exc. Nice example of Joe Shuster’s delicate pencil artwork.
