Item Description
16.5x21" frame contains 10.5x14.5" pastel on paper self-portrait of Richard Merkin (see previous item #1964 for biography and more information about Merkin). Professionally and attractively matted and framed. Merkin has depicted himself smoking and wearing a baseball uniform. Merkin's appreciation of baseball was well-known, having illustrated a book on the Negro Baseball Leagues and this portrait connects the artist with one of his passions in very visually pleasing way. Painted c. 1996 and signed by the artist in the upper left corner in black. Exc. condition.
