Item Description
38” long cellulose paper dress inspired by the work of pop artist Andy Warhol, though produced by Campbell’s Soup as an advertising campaign in 1969. A-Line dress is printed with “Campbell’s Soup” classic red, black and white label design. Paper label still attached to inside back of neck reads “The Souper Dress – No Cleaning - No Washing - It’s Carefree - Fire Resistant Unless Washed Or Cleaned - To Refreshen, Press Lightly With Warm Iron - 80% Cellulose, 20% Cotton.” This national ad campaign item was available with coupon from ad as well as 50¢ and Campbell’s soup can label. Dress is un-cut (dresses are usually found trimmed at bottom) and unworn, complete with neck tag. Scattered age toning and pin holes at shoulders. Dress has been folded and has some lt. creasing but this could be removed if buyer so chooses. Displays Exc. Dresses are currently owned by The Metropolitan Museum Of Art, The Andy Warhol Museum, FIT, as well as other museums and collections around the world. Pop Art consumerism at its best.
